The Bruins made a low-risk move with the hopes of fortifying their depth Saturday, signing veteran forward Tyler Johnson to a professional tryout agreement.
Johnson, 34, has played in 738 career games over 12 seasons in the National Hockey League. He has 193 career goals and 238 assists and is a two-time Stanley Cup winner – 2020 and 2021 with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The 5-foot-8, 185-pound Johnson most recently played for the Chicago Blackhawks, where he saw action in 67 games a season ago.
Johnson hopes to prolong his successful run in the league and prove he has more firepower as his career winds down.
The Bruins will take a look at Johnson at training camp to see whether he fits the roster and decide whether he’s earned a spot.
