Jennifer Lopez Quietly Enters 2025 Grammys in a Sheer Skirt
Fresh off the Sundance Film Festival premiere of her new film Kiss of the Spider Woman, Jennifer Lopez appeared at the 2025 Grammy Awards in a sparkly, sheer skirt. The singer and actress skipped the carpet and quietly entered the ceremony, making a subtle onscreen appearance during the Best New Artist medley performance. She was seated next to her longtime manager, Benny Medina, and she presented Best Latin Pop Album to Shakira.
Lopez is not nominated for any awards tonight; her last nod was for “Let’s Get Loud” for Best Dance Recording in 2000. However, this could be the start of a long press tour for Kiss of the Spider Woman, which received strong reviews out of Sundance. The film currently does not have a distributor or release date. “I’ve been waiting for this moment my whole life,” Lopez told the audience at the festival.
The film is an adaption of the Terrance McNally, John Kander, and Fred Ebb stage musical. It is based upon the novel Kiss of the Spider Woman by Manuel Puig. Lopez’s role, Ingrid Luna, was originally played by the late Chita Rivera on Broadway, and showcases her singing and dancing as the titular femme fatale, who kills her victims with a kiss. The film also stars Diego Luna, Tonatiuh, and Tony Dovolani.
In her 2024 cover story, Lopez spoke to ELLE on what was next for her, prior to this moment and alluded to her upcoming slate. “I can’t tell you, ‘I’m going to direct three movies, and I’m going to do this, and I’m going to do that,’” she said. “But I can say that I will keep evolving as an artist and as a performer and producer and in all of the ways to create the projects that I decide to be involved with—and I hope that that never stops.”
